How much does it cost to join GoFoodie, and how much commission will I pay?
£0
That’s right! It’s absolutely FREE to sign up. We’ll even waive the commission and monthly subscription fee for the first 3 months, whilst you get started.
Then, from 4th month onwards, there is just a monthly subscription fee of £10 and 10% commission on every order made through GoFoodie. That’s it!
Are there any qualifications I need to start my food business?
Yes.
In the UK, anyone involved in the preparation of food is strongly recommended to have the Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certificate.
We fully support this, and provide the link to an accredited online course that is recognised by local authorities.
Why do I need to register my business?
Because you will be selling food to the public, you need to register your business (Kitchen) with the local council – this is a legal requirement.
It is FREE to register, but must be done at least 28 days before trading. All food businesses are subject to inspection when they start trading, (and at regular intervals afterwards). From this inspection, you shall receive a Food Hygiene Rating. GoFoodie require Kitchens on the platform to receive a rating of 4-stars or above.
We will guide you through this process.
What tech do I need?
You need something that you feel comfortable running your business off. This can be a smartphone, laptop, desktop computer or iPad.
How long will it take for me to get online?
Provided that you communicate with us and send the necessary documents requested promptly, (including your registration with the local council and hygiene course), we can have your kitchen online in a few days, so you’re all set to start selling as soon as you receive your food hygiene rating from the council.
Once my kitchen/menu page is set up on the app, how can I market it?
You will receive a bespoke QR code for any promotions you may want to do, as well as the link to your individual kitchen/menu page to send to your friends and contacts; and of course to use to promote your business on your social platforms.
We shall also promote your kitchen on the GoFoodie social platforms to increase your visibility (included as part of your monthly subscription).
How do I make changes to my menu, schedule, images, etc?
All aspects of your kitchen are decided by you. We’ll give you training so you can update menus/images or, simply send any changes through to our team to update for you.
How do customers order?
Customers have the convenience of pre-ordering on their phone through our easy-to-navigate app. Customers pay directly on the cook’s page through our secure in-app payment portal (stripe).
How will I receive orders from my customers?
You’ll be sent an email notification as soon as a customer pays for their order via the app.
Who handles each delivery?
You do. That said, we have a delivery app (Go Drive) that shows the order details, optimum directions, and notifies the customers of the delivery time. This app also has the ability to track their order. You can either deliver the food yourself, or choose a friend or family member to deliver using our app thus earning an additional income.
What is the delivery radius?
That depends on what you’re ordering from our cooks!
For hot food, we believe it’s important to deliver fresh, warm, home-cooked meals to customers, so the delivery radius would be limited to the local area of the Kitchen (typically ca. 6 miles/30 minutes). For cold products, we may be able to deliver further afield.
What happens if a customer cancels an order?
Customers can cancel an order prior to your chosen cut off time, with a full refund minus service and transaction charges. Orders cannot be cancelled after the order cut-off time selected by yourself.
What happens if I need to cancel an order?
Please try to make any changes to your schedule well in advance of the order cut-off time, so as to prevent customer disappointment. However, we understand that emergencies may arise and, in that instance, please contact your customers to inform them of the cancellation. Customers will be fully refunded. Contact us also at admin@gofoodie.co.uk immediately so we can ensure that the refunds are processed.
